Marco Rose on Eljif Elmas, Dani Olmo and the training camp
RBL head coach Marco Rose talks about new signing Eljif Elmas and Dani Olmo's return
On Tuesday, our lads head to their training camp in Spain. Head coach Marco Rose’s side will prepare for the second half of the season in La Manga until 7th January.
Having arrived at the training camp, our coach made himself available for questions from the media. Here are Marco’s answers.
2024 winter training camp
Marco Rose on...
...his first impressions from the training camp
- "The conditions here are great. If you look at what the weather’s like in Leipzig at the moment, it’s definitely better here in Spain. We want to use these very good conditions in terms of the weather and training pitches in the best way possible. The journey to the training camp went well and we passed the time enjoyably.”
...the plan for the coming days
- "We’re starting straight away with the first session on Tuesday evening, because we want to make the most of our time here. We're back at home against Eintracht Frankfurt (13th January, 15:30 CET) in less than two weeks. We also want to get Eljif Elmas settled in as quickly as we can.
We will work on a few basics of our game and we want to strengthen the things we already do, in particular the patterns of play that have worked well for us so far. Those include building up the play under pressure, our play in the final third, what we do without possession and set pieces."
He's technically gifted and versatile too.
Marco Rose on...
...new signing Eljif Elmas
- "We knew that Emil Forsberg would leave us to head to New York over the winter break. As well as that, we've also let Fabio Carvalho go back early to Liverpool. We were clear that if the lad felt like he needed a change, then we would accept that.
Eljif is our new option for this position after these two departures. Our squad is a bit thin, but full of lots of quality. Eljif is a versatile player. He even started as a holding midfielder, but can play as a box-to-box midfielder or on the wings. He's technically gifted, but also tracks back too and works hard."
...Dani Olmo
- "I think Dani Olmo is fit and ready again now. He's completed several tests, so now we need to see how he is on the pitch, how he deals with tackles and how his shoulder reacts when he falls on it. We'll be keeping a close eye on him."
